Disconnect the positive battery terminal from the main starting battery. The reason for this order is if a wrench or loose battery cable ends grounds to the body, no arcing or other bad things happen. (I assume that you only have one battery in your 3. 86zIHWL. after the code has been cleared see what codes come back. things to check first. 1) brake lights work. 2) battery is ok and check what the voltage is with a multimeter with the engine off and on, or get it checked out by halfords. 3) does it clear if u turn the engine off and back in again.

I wouldn't reccomend replacing it yourself as you need to bleed the brakes when you replace it (unless you are mechanically able). I like car.
